SEGD Excellence Awards & Fellow Celebration

Starts at 5:00 p.m.

Brooklyn
New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge

Sponsored by Design and Production Inc., Available Light, Cortina Productions, PPI Consulting, and SmithGroupJJR

Each year, SEGD names an SEGD Fellow, honoring a designer/practitioner who has dedicated his or her career to promoting the highest values in environmental graphic design and significantly contributing to the direction and growth of the field. These “poet laureates" of EGD have included Massimo Vignelli, David Gibson, Richard Poulin, Chris Calori and David Vanden-Eynden, Ralph Appelbaum, Ronald Shakespear, Deborah Sussman, Clifford Selbert and Robin Perkins, and Virginia Gehshan and Jerome Cloud.

The annual SEGD Excellence Awards recognize the individuals, companies, and organizations that—through their commitment to human-centered, effective design in the built environment—help define the highest standards of practice in the field of environmental graphic design.

Join us for cocktails and light refreshments as we salute the honorees. After the awards presentation, end your night with a sunset walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with fellow conference-goers, or have a dinner out in any of the food-savvy Brooklyn neighborhoods.

SEGD Global Design Awards & Auction for Education

Starts at 6:30

Manhattan
Skylight West

The SEGD Auction for Education is sponsored by Signalex, Inc.

The SEGD Global Design Awards Presentation is co-sponsored by Avery Dennison and Digico Imaging.

Enjoy closing-night festivities at one of Manhattan's favorite special-events venues. Skylight West commands a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building, the entire Manhattan skyline, and the Hudson River. We'll toast a great conference while taking in the fabulous view at sunset!

The 2012 Conference “grand finale" will include an elegant sit-down dinner and SEGD's version of the Oscars, the SEGD Global Design Awards presentation. And we're notching up the annual Auction for Education with auction activities directed by Karl Green, Director of Furniture and Decorative Arts for Bonhams auction house!

SEGD Global Design Awards

What do an airplane factory, a Hell's Kitchen bus terminal, a huge medical campus, an abandoned coal mine, and a “poem pavilion" have in common? All include environmental graphic design projects honored with the prestigious SEGD Global Design Award.

Since 1987, the SEGD Global Design Awards have recognized the best environmental graphic design projects in the world. You'll see the debut of the winning 2012 projects, from retail stores to museum exhibition design and from wayfinding to place making and branding projects. Enjoy the show and an elegant dinner at Skylight West.

SEGD Auction for Education

The annual SEGD Auction for Education is a raffle and live auction conducted to benefit SEGD's educational initiatives. It gives participants the chance to actively invest in the next generation of environmental graphic designers by bidding on coveted items such as original signed artwork, vacation packages, sports tickets, memorabilia, and technology. Among other initiatives that it supports, proceeds help bring students who have won SEGD Design Awards to the conference.

This year, the expanded auction will feature a professional auctioneer: Karl Green, Director of Furniture and Decorative Objects for Bonhams auction house, will keep the action live and engaging as we raise money for SEGD education!

For a sneak preview of auction items available, check the Auction for Education page.
